The E 458.0 (110) electric locomotive was manufactured in 1971 as the first type of second-generation ŠKODA locomotive, with the intention of replacing diesel shunting locomotives in stations. After successful testing, 53 units were produced in 1972/3. This was followed by the improved E458.1 series, where shunting speed control was replaced by thyristor power switching with 35 locomotives produced by 1982. Locos are also used for light track service.
